British Board of Film Classification

As the opening of our teen horror film will be a certificate 15 i must know what restrictions there are to films with this classification.

Discrimaination
The work as a whole must not endorse discriminatory language or behaviour.

Drugs
Drug taking may be shown but the film as a whole must not promote or encourage drug misuse. The misuse of easily accessible and highly dangerous substances (for example, aerosols or solvents) is unlikely to be acceptable.

Horror
Strong threat and menace are permitted unless sadistic or sexualised.

Imitable Behaviour
Dangerous behaviour (for example, hanging, suicide and self-harming) should not dwell on detail which could be copied. Easily accessible weapons should not be glamorised.

Language
There may be frequent use of strong language. The strongest terms may be acceptable if justified by the context. Aggressive or repeated use of the strongest language is unlikely to be acceptable.

Nudity
Nudity may be allowed in a sexual context but without strong detail. There are no constraints on nudity in a non-sexual or educational context.

Sex
Sexual activity may be portrayed without strong detail. There may be strong verbal references to sexual behaviour, but the strongest references are unlikely  to be acceptable unless justified by context. Works whose primary purpose is sexual arousal or stimulation are unlikely to be acceptable.

Theme
No theme is prohibited, provided the treatment is appropriate for 15 year olds

Violence
Violence may be strong but should not dwell on the infliction of pain or injury. The strongest gory images are unlikely to be acceptable. Strong sadistic or sexualised violence is also unlikely to be acceptable. There may be detailed verbal references to sexual violence but any portrayal of sexual violence must be discreet and have a strong contextual justification

After looking at the opening of these films i have realised that the films title isn't always the first thing that must appear in the films opening titles. Many of the films list there main or most known actors and actresses in the first few seconds of the opeing titles and is often in bolder text than less known actors and actresses or those with smaller parts in the film.

Horror Opening Number 2

In this lesson me and my group thought of our second horror film opening.

The opening involves two teenagers walking into their local town centre to do some shopping and just generally enjoying the day. However when they are walking into town they find it unusual as it is very quite around the area when the pair are walking past the church and their thinking is correct as a mysterious figure appears.

Horror Opening Number 1

In todays lesson we worked independently within our groups to come up with and to write two openings to a horror film.

The first of my openings involves the three teenagers begining at one of their houses with all their luggage ready to pack the car for there journey to there holiday destination and just talking about there holiday.

The Pitch For Our Horror Opening

Three teenagers aged 16 to 19 decide to go on holiday to a country house in a remote location. Three teenagers live on the same street and have known each other for many years. However their holiday isn't as fun as they planned!

Our pitch

Me and my group presented our pitch to the class in our lesson. However we need to re-write our pitch because it wasn't correct as we gave to much detail into what we were going to included in our horror film such as the audio nioses. We now have to alter our pitch with less detail in our next lesson
